Editing extracted faces while keeping the DFL metadata

I passed my extracted source faces through GFPGAN and it does an INSANE job of turning any face into a super HD face. I’m sure this would dramatically improve deepfake results.
The problem is now when I try to train it gives me an error because apparently it saves DFL data with the images which is wiped once you resave them.
I have tried PIL and piexif for getting the metadata but they both return that the images have no exif data.
Is there any way to edit the extracted faces and keep this data?

Found out this is actually built in already. run 4.2) data_src util faceset metadata save, then edit your faces, then run 4.2) data_src util faceset metadata restore
